My I.C.E. Page

This page is about my I.C.E., which stands for In Car Entertainment System:

As you know, no matter how good of sound that my car engine makes, I always get buzzing ears when I don't have good music to go with the exhaust note.... hehehhehe.. not that I like to blast other people with big bass thumps...(I really don't because I don't wanna get shot. I still intend to live until I am very old)... Anyway, since I also love car eletronics so much, I decided to make this page in complement to my car's pages... for you audio nuts...enjoy~

Kenwood eXcelon KRC-PS955 head unit
Even though it's only a cassette deck (I was so broke before that all I could afford only tapes... sob sob), I believe the KRC-PS955 is one of the best decks Kenwood's ever made! It came out as the top of the line model back in 1998 and featured all the latest gadgets such as the Mask System (it rotates around to hide its face automatically when the ignition is shut off.... very cool...) and all the nice graphic display with amber/green buttons. Best of all, its ebonic black face plate really sets itself apart from competitions! Price? Around $500.00 when it first came out.
Kenwood eXcelon KDC-CPS81 10 disc CD changer
Fione... so I was broke and I couldn't afford to buy CDs... that's okay.. I am not too broke now.. (even though I still have no money for food yet)... therefore, I am now able to elevate myself to the CD population.. hehehh.. Back to this CD changer, as its matching head unit, the KRC-PS955, this KDC-PCS81 also came out as the top of the line model for Kenwood in 1998. With its shiny ebonic black plate and gold lettering finish... it's really a shame that I had to mount it in the truck.... hehehehe.. I wish I could just stick it in my forehead so everyone can see how nice looking this unit is...Price? Around $400.00 when it first came out.
Alpine 3342 Digital Sound Field Processor
Shown in picture is actually Alpine's newer model, the ERA-G320. But its predecessor, the 3342 looks similar anyway. Hehehe.. I really like this unit because its display perfectly matches my bimmer's amber interior lights. In addition, this sound field processor really makes me want to convert my car to another bedroom.. hehehe... with its capability to fine tone my music into many modes such as concert, classic, stadium, rock, pop, male, female, news broadcast, etc... This Alpine is really a nice toy to play with. Price? Around $550.00-$650.00, depends upon where you get it from.
Precision Power Sedona 460IX 4 channel amplifier
This is one of the cleanest sounding amps I've heard in my life. Okay okay.. so maybe it's not as well known as the famous PPI Art Series.. but this amp is definitely worth the money... Compare to many overrated brands.. this solid performer really works well with my MB Quarts QM325 speakers.. making them sound like ummmm... heaven.. heheh.. no wonder PPI amps are frequently used by pros in car audio competitions. Price? Around $400.00.
MB Quart QM 325.2 3 Way Component speakers
Wow these speakers really blew me away when I first listened to them.... even though they sound a bit sharp to my ears (compared to other premium brands such as A.D.S. or Boston Acoustics).... these MB Quarts really make a lot of difference to a car's stereo set up. Wouldn't you want to be able to tell even the sound of a dropping pin in your music? =) I certainly would. Price? Around $550.00.
Monster Interlink MicroXLN 2 channel cables
When I had the lower end Monster cables in my car, my system just sounded awful. Alternator whine was a major problem... hehehhehe.. the only benefit of having the whine was that I could brag to people that it's the turbo charger I have underneath the hood (which I no longer have anyway).... After I was fed up with the old cables, this Interlink MicroXLN solved most of the problems as soon as it was installed. I could no longer hear the whines... yeeeeeessss~ After all, it's the 1998 CES Award Innovation winner, has over 60db of loop noise rejection, and best of all, it's super compact for easy installation. Price? Around $80.00 for two sets.
Infinity Kappa DVC 10' subwoofer
I picked the Infinity Kappa series sub. over the Kappa Perfect series one because the Kappa came in beautiful teal/green (the Kappa Perfect is silver). It actually matches my car's color really well! I complemented this sub. with a PPI Art series 2 channel amp and the PPI just knocks this sub. with total authority! I placed the sub. in a sealed box for better, more accurate and tight bass. Since I listen to mainly technos, trance, free style, dance and pop music, I don't need the boomy bass in my music. I love this sub. :) It sure put a big smile on my face~ The Infinity Kappa retailed for $209.00. The sealed sub. box cost around $45.00.
Precision Power Art 200.2 2 channel amplifier
This is perhaps one of the best sub. ampfliers I've ever had. No kidding. The PPI Art Series amps are known for their clarity and power even amongst audio philes and car stereo sound competitors. The A200.2 was the last of the Art series that PPI produced in 1997. It's so beautiful that I was afraid to mount it in my truck because I didn't want to scratch its surface paint. It delivers great power for my sub. and perfectly complements my other PPI 4 channel amplifier. This amp retailed for around $400.00 when new.
Custom truck cut outs
It's really too bad that I don't have any close up pictures of my custom trunk cut outs. At first I felt a bit nervous about having holes in my rear deck. After careful researches, I found out that E36 BMWs have super air tight trunk. There was simply no way that I could get the bass inside the cabin if I don't cut the rear deck. I thought of fitting two 12' inch subs. in the holes but later decided not to because I needed the trunk space. But it's all good, with the rear deck cut, the air is now able to travel inside my cabin. And that certainly added a lot of great bass to my music! Custom cutting cost around $200.00
Clifford ACE 7500 G4 alarm
This newest Clifford G4 (Generation 4) alarm does nothing but amazes me! Don't let the designation ACE fool you, the model number 7500 actually means that it is fully loaded with Clifford's most popular and expensive features! With gadgets like remote start (with a press of a button, the car starts itself), Black Jack (best security feature in the world), motion sensors, extra long range remote, Clifford's Smart Window 4 (with a press of button, all the windows roll up automatically when the alarm is armed) and more, this alarm really beats everything I've seen! It really shines itself in comparison to Clifford's high end models such as the Intelliguard 8000/9000. Wow..... Too bad that it's still in my room uninstalled. Hehehhehe.. no money since it's gonna cost me $300.00-$400.00 to put it in my car. Now I just have an old Alpine 8070 alarm that's going psycho on me.. sigh...The Clifford retails for around $400.00 uninstalled.
AC Schnitzer pedals
I know this pix shouldn't belong to the I.C.E. page. But I love these pedals so much that I just couldn't resist showing them to you. As part of the interior, the pedals really make the car stand out! They're not only pleasant to look at, they also demonstrate part of the Schnitzer heritage as a famous BMW race car tuner. Hehehehhe... because of these pedals, I usually drive my car without shoes so I won't put any tears and wears on them. Price? Around $200 for a set. Dead pedal cost additional $200.00.
